College Soccer: Tacoma Scores Two First Half Goals to Overwhelm Centralia

The Trailblazers couldn’t keep pace with a rabid Tacoma offense here Saturday as they fell 3-1 in a NWAC West Region women’s soccer contest.

The Titans put up 21 shots in the game compared to just six for the Blazers and took a 2-0 lead into the intermission. Moreover, only one of Centralia’s shots was on target. Nevea Taylor launched that shot to score her team’s lone goal in the 62nd minute and cut the Blazers deficit to 2-1.

Tacoma never quit attacking, though, with 13 shots in the second half alone. That press prevented the Blazers from getting any momentum on the offensive end and the Titans extended their lead in the 85th minute on a goal by Isabella Weaver.

Alexis Newsons scored Tacoma’s first goal in the 10th minute and Aubrey Smith gave the Titans a 2-0 lead in the 15th minute.

Centralia College (1-3-1, 0-1 league) will play at Pierce College at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in a West Region game.
