2B Track: Hamre Wins Four at State Meet

CHENEY — Napavine’s Grace Hamre captured four titles at the State 2B Track & Field Championships here Saturday, winning the 100, 200, 400 and 4x200 meter races on Day 3 of the meet.

The senior swept the individual sprint events despite competing in her first season of high school track.

In the 100, Hamre registered a time of 12.78 to edge Scout Cai of Colfax and Emma Lee of La Conner by .08 seconds and .10 seconds, respectively. Hamre also topped 2nd and third place finishers Cai and Lee in the 200 with a time of 26.09. Hamre had a larger margin of victory in the 400, finishing in 58.65 to beat second place Ashley Sande of St. George’s, who ran 59.48.

Napavine’s 4x200 relay of Hamre, Mollie Olson, Xylee Pope and Alex Pope combined to run 1:46.33, over a La Conner team that finished in 1:46.99.

Napavine scored 65 points to place third overall at the meet.



Olson, who won a state triple jump title on Friday, took sixth in the 100 hurdles and fifth in the 300 hurdles,

Toledo’s Josie Bowen was fifth in the shot put at 36 feet, 10.75 inches, and Winlock freshman Jessica Neal was fifth in the high jump (5-00). Adna’s Emma Manning was seventh in the 100 hurdles.

Also for the Tigers, junior Conner Locke edged Okanogan’s Greyson Fields and Pe Ell’s Josh Schultz for first in the 100, crossing the line in 11.40 seconds. Schulz finished second in the triple jump, at 43 feet, 3.25 inches — an inch and a half behind winner McKay Knowlton of Kettle Falls. He also finished fifth in the 200.

Pe Ell’s Tyler Justice finished second in the 300 hurdles and third in the 110 hurdles, and Mossyrock’s boys relay teams both finished in the top six. The 4x400 team (Lucas Johnson, Levi Munoz, Sean Johnson and Jess White) took fourth in 3:30, and the 4x100 team (James Cheney, Lucas Johnson, White and Munoz) took sixth in 45.26.
