2B Girls: Tigers Beat Adna for 12th-Straight League Win

NAPAVINE — The Tigers did what they’ve done all season —come out of the gates running — and overwhelmed the Pirates early in a 63-48 Central 2B League victory here on Saturday. Melissa Lee scored 25 points and helped lead the Tigers to their seventh straight victory and 12th straight league victory, keeping Napavine atop the C2BL girls hoops standings.

“We were able to get out to a big lead in the first half,” Napavine coach Jeremy Landram said. “We came out in the first half and played pretty well.”

Sparked by two 3-pointers from Grace Hamre — who scored 8 of her 12 points in the first half — the Tigers led 42-21 by halftime.

“We just shot the ball really well in the first two quarters,” Landram said. “Maddie Thompson, Jenna Sisson and Becca Snaza did a great job on defense for us in the third and fourth quarters.”

Shanay Dotson led Adna with 18 points while Devanie Kleemeyer had 15 points. Mollie Olson added 10 points for Napavine.

The Tigers (13-2, 12-1 league) host Pe Ell Tuesday, while Adna (10-5, 9-4 league) plays at Mossyrock.

Free Throws Help Toledo Past MWP

MORTON — Poor free-throw shooting doomed Morton-White Pass here Saturday night in a 52-49 C2BL girls hoops loss to Toledo.

The Timberwolves jumped out to a 9-0 lead, but were outscored 17-14 in the fourth quarter — and went 9 of 26 from the foul line in the loss.

Toledo’s Anna Tauscher, Haley Tauscher and Alyssa Ewers combined to go 18 of 26 from the foul line in the second half, and the Indians were 20 of 32, total, from the line.

“It’s been our Achilles heel all season,” MWP coach Tom Griffith said. “We just couldn’t keep up with their great free-throw shooting.”

Ewers finished with 16 points to lead Toledo, while Anna Tauscher added 13.

Haley Kolb led MWP with 15 points and eight boards. Christine Robbins added 11 points and eight rebounds.



Morton-White Pass (10-5, 8-5 league) hosts Wahkiakum Tuesday night in Randle. Toledo (6-9, 5-8 league) hosts Onalaska the same night.

Souvenir Goes Off as Mules Beat Mossyrock

MOSSYROCK — Peyton Souvenir scored 36 points, and Wahkiakum ran past Mossyrock, 65-39, here Saturday in C2BL girls hoops action.

The Mules stretched out a 34-17 lead by halftime, then added 21 in the third quarter.

Lainee Grose led Mossyrock with 23 points, but the Vikings shot just 29 percent from the field.

“They basically just shot better than us, and were able to beat us up and down the court,” Mossyrock coach Darin Bullock said.

Paige Moorcroft added 6 points for Mossyrock (1-14, 0-13 league), which plays at Adna on Tuesday.

Duryea’s Bucket Seals Win for Loggers

ONALASKA — The Loggers slipped past Winlock, 30-28, here on Saturday thanks to a key play late in the fourth.

Nicolle Duryea swiped the ball, drove down court and scored at the last second to give Onalaska the Central 2B League girls hoops victory.

Duryea finished with 11 points, while Maggie Howsden led Winlock with 8.

Onalaska (7-8, 6-7 league) plays at Toledo on Tuesday. Winlock (4-11, 3-10) plays at Toutle Lake on Tuesday.
