2B Girls BB: Tigers Crush Timberwolves

NAPAVINE — It went about the way a top-team versus a bottom-team would expect to turn out.

The host Tigers ran out to a 25-8 lead at halftime, and had an even better second half en route to a 62-26 crushing of Morton-White Pass here Monday night in Central 2B League girls basketball action.

“We came out a little slow in the first half,” Napavine coach Alida Bower said. “We kind of played lackadaisical. Ali (Brossard) had 17 of our 25 points in the first half.

“The second half we really kicked it into gear,” the coach added. “We took care of the ball and forced 27 turnovers. I think we were more patient in the second half and got better shots instead of just rushing it and taking the first available shot.”

Brossard finished with a game-high 19 points, and Elaun Sherwood chipped in 12.

Darian Atkinson led the Timberwolves with 8 points, and Chelbi Eveland scored 6 points and had a team-high six rebounds.

Brossard, Josie Dekoker and Hazel Dekoker each pulled down five boards for the Tigers, who had a 40-29 advantage.

“It was an all-around good victory for our girls,” Bower said.

Napavine (13-3, 9-1 league) plays at Winlock Wednesday.
