2A Track: Pullin Takes Second in Pole Vault, Third in 110 Hurdles

TACOMA — Aaron Pullin took second in the pole vault and third in the 110-meter hurdles here Thursday in the State 2A Track & Field Championships.

The Centralia senior qualified for state in four events, and finished second in the 110 hurdle qualifying races on Thursday. On Friday he ran the finals, taking third in 14.78 seconds — in an extremely tight finals, won by West Valley’s Mac Baxter in 14.73 seconds. Bellingham’s Benjamin Doucette was second, in 14.75 seconds.

Pullin also set a school record in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 14 feet, 9 inches. R.A. Long’s Joey Weiler won the event at 15-9.



The Tiger standout finished eighth in Friday’s 200-meter preliminaries, and will run in the event’s finals today. He high jumped 5 feet, 10 inches on Friday, finishing 13th. Kingston’s Max English won the event at 6-4.

On the girls side, W.F. West’s McKenna Moon finished sixth in the high jump for the second-straight year, tying her personal-best at 5 feet, 2 inches.

Also on Friday, W.F. West’s Nolan Camlin ran the preliminaries for the boys 300 hurdles, W.F. West’s McKenna Moon ran the preliminaries for the girls 800 meters, and Rochester’s Sharon Smith ran the preliminaries for the 400 meters, though none were able to qualify for today’s finals.
