1A Boys: Balanced Loggers Rout Rainier

ONALASKA — The Loggers had four players in double figures in a 72-31 SWW 1A League Evergreen Division romp over visiting Rainier here Tuesday night in boys hoops action.

    Onalaska ran out to a 23-4 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, leading 36-12 at halftime.

    “It was one of our best starts,” Logger coach Dennis Bower said. “We’re starting to come together really well.”

    The win improved the Loggers to 16-0 on the season, and 9-0 in league contests.

    Brady Stanley scored a game-high 13, with Dalton Ritchey and Cody Naillon each adding 12 and Eddie Miles scoring 11.

    The Loggers play the late game of a boys-girls doubleheader Friday night in Tenino.

Warriors Floor Cardinals

    ROCHESTER — Jared Burkhardt scored a quiet 32 and the Warriors put away Winlock early for a 65-45 SWW 1A League Evergreen Division win here Tuesday night.



    “I didn’t even know until I looked at the book,” Rochester coach Andrew Kernutt said of Burkhardt’s big night. “He was just getting wide open, and when you leave him open, he’s going to hit it.”

    Burkhardt hit six 3-point buckets, drained all six of his free throws, and shot 5 of 5 in the second quarter.

    Collin Kupers and Bryson Coleman combined for 41 points for Winlock, with Kupers shooting 9 of 18 from the floor for 26 points.

    “He just did a really good job of rebounding, and getting inside on us,” Kernutt said of the 6-foot-6 Kupers. “I was really impressed with his play.”

    Kupers and Burkhardt also led their teams with nine and seven rebounds, respectively.

    Rochester led 36-18 at halftime. Mike Kent, who transferred to Rochester from Winlock earlier this season, added 9 points for the Warriors.

    The Warriors (8-7, 6-3 league) are at Montesano on Friday, while Winlock (2-13, 2-7) is at Forks the same day.
