ADNA — The Pirates had four players in double figures and shot 50 percent from the field, as they put an 82-51 beating on visiting Central 2B League opponent Mossyrock here Wednesday night in boys basketball action.

Coulsen Kohler led the way with a 21-point, eight-assist, seven-steal, five-rebound performance. Nate Trotter posted a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, Jacob Revis had 14 on 4 of 5 shooting behind the arc, and Kyle Grosshans kicked in 11.

“We came out in the first half and it was 10-0 like that,” Pirate coach Casey Dotson, whose team jumped out to a 25-11 lead after one quarter of play. “That’s kind of been our M.O. as of late.”

The Pirates shot 68 percent from the field (19 of 28) in the front half of the contest, and finished the game shooting 31 of 62. They held Mossyrock to 19 of 57 shooting — but 8 of 18 from 3-point range — and outrebounded the Vikings 35-30.

Austin Anderson led the Vikings with 18 points, followed by Jordan Bowman with 11.

Panthers Can’t Contain Pe Ell

RANDLE — White Pass went into halftime up 40-31 over C2BL-leading Pe Ell, but collapsed in the third quarter en route to a 74-60 Trojan win here Wednesday night.

The Panthers scored just 7 to Pe Ell’s 23 in that third frame, before allowing them to add 20 more in the fourth.

“We played our best half of the year in the first half there,” Panther coach Tony Gillispie said. “We only had six turnovers. That was something we’ve been struggling with.

“It allowed us to have more shot attempts and we produced,” he added. “Then in that third quarter, we came and we collapsed. We knew Pe Ell was going to make a run. We have to play great every single possession to have a chance to beat them.”

Hank Robinson had 26 points and 10 rebounds for Pe Ell, followed in scoring by Tyler Ratkie with 19, Dylan Toepelt with 14, and Joey Vetter with 13.

Trevor Blackburn led White Pass offensively with 14 points, and Matt Green scored 10 off the bench.

“There was some positives, but when you play Pe Ell, as good as they are, you have to play four quarters to have a chance,” Gillispie said. “We played three and that was probably the tale of the game.”

White Pass (4-12, 2-7 league) plays at Wahkiakum Friday, while Pe Ell (15-3, 7-2 league) hosts Adna.

Tigers Pull Away From Ducks in Fourth

NAPAVINE — Down 1 point through three quarters to Toutle Lake, Napavine needed to find an opportunity to pull away with a C2BL win here Wednesday night.

That opportunity presented itself in the form of openings in the Ducks’ full court press, as the Tigers rallied for a 56-51 win.

“We got some easy buckets,” Tiger coach Rex Stanley said. “They were pressin’ us, and we probably had 8 (points) in the fourth just throwing it over the top.

“It was just tight,” he added. “Toutle Lake, they’re always going to be prepared and they just don’t give you anything easy. It was back and forth.”

Reece Stanley was one of four Tigers in double figures with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Micah Brown scored 12, Colton Brown added 12 and Trevor Brown scored 10.

The Tigers held Toutle Lake to 18 of 45 shooting from the field, and outscored the Ducks 21-15 in the final period. Toutle’s Anthony Heintzman — the game’s leading scorer at halftime with 14 — was limited to just 5 in the second half.
