2B Track: Gaffney Wins Three at District Championships

RAYMOND — Adna’s Regyn Gaffney won three events here Thursday at the District 4 2B Track Championships.

Gaffney, who won four State 2B championships last May, won the 100 meters in 12.36 seconds, the 200 (25.82) and the 400 (59.48), while helping the Lady Pirate 4x200 relay team to a second-place finish along with Karissa Callahan, Isabella Elwood and Amber Langworthy.

The top six boys and the top seven girls in each event advance to the State 2B Track & Field Championships, which take place at Eastern Washington University in Cheney on Friday, May 29, and Saturday, May 30.

Morton-White Pass’ Kenzie Anderson was the only other local winner on the girls side, taking first in the 800.

Mossyrock’s Alicia Herrera was second in the 1600 and fourth in the 3200, and teammate Calli Hensch was second in the high jump.

Napavine’s Mollie Olson was second in the 300 hurdles and third in the 100 hurdles. The freshman also finished second in the triple jump. Teammate Mecaela Chapman was second in the javelin, helping the Tiger girls to a third-place finish.



Napavine’s Chase Van Wyck, the defending State 2B champion, beat out a quartet of North Beach throwers for first place in the shot put, winning with a toss of 53 feet, 6.5 inches. The Hyaks accounted for the second-, third-, fourth- and fifth-place throws. Teammate Jacob Johnston was third in the discus and Napavine’s Noah Lantz was second in the javelin.

Toledo’s Daniel Echtle won the 300 hurdles in 41.68 seconds and took second in the 110 hurdles, and teammate Forrest Wallace won the high jump at an even 6 feet.

Morton-White Pass’ Ian Louderback won the javelin at 162-8 and took fourth in the discus, and MWP’s Zach Elswick won the triple jump at 41-9.

Pe Ell’s Josh Schulz was second in the high jump, third in the 200 and fourth in the long jump.

Northwest Christian (Lacey) won the girls district championship, with six event wins. Raymond won the boys title, with seven first-place finishes.
