TOLEDO — Wahkiakum picked up a pair of victories over Toledo in Central 2B softball play here on Thursday by scores of 5-2 and 18-14. Keiona Trimmer had six hits on the day for the Indians, but her squad couldn’t overcome 22 hits total by the Mules.

Trimmer and Casee Rice each had two hits in the first game but Wahkiakum rallied from an early 2-0 deficit in the third inning for the 5-2 victory.

“In the first game, we left too many people on base,” Toledo coach Taylor Woods said. “We left 10 on base and that was the biggest thing for us.”

In the nightcap, the Mules had two home runs and won 18-14. They led 8-6 after three innings of play as both teams piled on the runs. Toledo collected 10 hits but allowed 14.

Trimmer was again solid at the plate, going 4 for 5 with a double while Rice was 2 for 3 with two triples and 3 RBIs.

“We hit the ball a lot better but overall we just didn’t come out here and play our game,” Woods said. “Keiona was really good behind the plate, throwing people out at first and third. She was very aggressive.”

Toledo (1-11) plays at Napavine on Wednesday.

Note: Toledo lost to Toutle Lake on Wednesday by scores of 17-0 and 20-10.

Timberwolves Swept by Ducks

RANDLE — The Ducks remained undefeated with a Central 2B doubleheader sweep of Morton-White Pass here on Thursday by scores of 16-2 and 17-6. Kylie Allen had a big day at the play for the Timberwolves but Toutle Lake was also lighting up the scoreboard.

In the first game, Morton-White Pass struck out 14 times en route to a 16-2 loss, while Allen was 2 for 3.

“That was not a good game for us. You just can’t do that,” Timberwolves coach Darin Allen said.

Morton-White Pass improved in the nightcap but still fell 17-6. Allen was 2 for 4 while Tatym Smathers was 2-for-3.

“I thought we played much better in the second game,” Allen said.

Christine Robbins pitched the first game while Taylor Brooks pitched the second. Morton-White Pass (7-9, 6-8 league) plays at Wahkiakum on Wednesday.
