ROCHESTER — The Warriors gave one of the top teams in the 1A Evergreen Division a fight, but eventually came up short in a 25-12, 25-12, 25-16 loss here on Thursday.

"The score didn't show how hard we battled," Rochester coach Wendy Hawes said. "We had a lot of long rallies, we stayed together as a team and we stayed positive."

Caity Morris had five kills from the setter position and dished out nine assists for Rochester.

"She did very well and had a lot of tip kills," Hawes said.

Bailey Spangler had five aces and three kills while Ariel Saxon had a great defensive night, Hawes said, and added three kills.

Courtney Baird also had three kills for the Warriors.

Rochester (2-3 league, 2-4 overall) will host Elma on Tuesday

Toutle Lake Sweeps Adna

TOUTLE — The Pirates couldn’t get past last year’s State 2B runner-up here Thursday night, falling to Toutle Lake 25-17, 25-22, 25-22 in a nonleague volleyball matchup.

Cheyenne Gilbertson stood out for her work in the back row for Adna, scooping up 23 digs, and Olivia Valentine notched nine kills on 14 attempts for the Pirates.

"As a team, we served 95 percent, which is very good for us," Adna coach Wendie Dotson said. "We have a few things to work on with defensive holes, but it's a nonleague game. Hopefully, next time out will be a better showing."

The Pirates (2-2 nonleague) will host Morton-White Pass on Tuesday.

Mossyrock Serves Past Toledo, 3-0

MOSSYROCK — Calli Hensch had 16 kills while Mossyrock swept Toledo 25-8, 25-17, 25-22 here on Thursday night, bouncing back from a loss to Toutle Lake on Tuesday.

“We came out very strong and it was a good turnaround from down in Toutle on Tuesday,” Mossyrock coach Alex Nelson said.

Kelsie Moorcroft served 10 of 10, Amber St. Pierre went 8 for 8 and Carrie McDaniel was 12 of 13 with four aces. Hensch also helped from the service stripe, going 21 of 23 with four aces.

“Amber also led us in on-target passes tonight, and was a good leader out on the floor,” Nelson said.

Shayne Fried had eight kills while Paige Moorcroft added four kills for Mossyrock.

Toledo got 8 of 8 serving with two aces from Kayla Bauter, while Sarah Subjeck dished out 11 assists and Amanda Boone tallied three blocks and seven kills.

“We made a lot of unfocused errors. We played a lot better in the third set, but just in the beginning,” Toledo coach Whitney Luchau said. “Calli (Hensch) had a pretty big run on us, and it’s hard for our team to come back from a run that’s more than 10 points.”

Toledo (1-4, 1-1 league) will play at Pe Ell on Tuesday.

Napavine Sweeps Pe Ell

PE ELL — Napavine made short work of the Trojans here in a 25-16, 25-10, 25-11 nonleague volleyball win.

Jordin Pruett led the Tigers, serving 100 percent with two aces, five kills and seven digs.

“I thought we played pretty well,” Napavine coach Monica Dailey said. “We had some unforced errors, and we’ve still got some things we’re needing to clean up, but for the most part I felt like they stayed pretty focused tonight.”

Melissa Lee added six kills and a block-kill, Angel Parker had two kills and two block-kills, and Layce Shannon served 100 percent with a pair of aces and five digs for Napavine.

Napavine (3-1) will host Toutle Lake on Tuesday. Pe Ell will host Toledo on Tuesday.

MWP Gets Past Winlock

MORTON — The Timberwolves got stronger as the night went on in a 25-13, 25-10, 25-3 nonleague sweep of Winlock here on Thursday night.

Madison King led Morton-White Pass with 17 assists and four kills while Sharon Hazen added seven kills and three aces. Taylor Brooks tallied six kills as well.

"We worked on different serving things and staying focused while pushing in each game," MWP coach Tammy Kelly said.

At one point Sammy Foister served 19 times in a row, and finished with seven aces and three kills for the Timberwolves.

MWP will play at Adna on Tuesday and Winlock will host Wahkiakum.

Mules Sneak Past Loggers In Four

CATHLAMET — Onalaska stuck close to Wahkiakum in the first three sets, but the Mules ended up with the victory in a 25-22, 19-25, 23-35, 14-25 nonleague win here on Thursday.

Nicolle Duryea led the Logger offense with 16 assists and 9 for 9 from the service stripe. Ronnie Kinsman had seven kills and three blocks while McKenna Ulery had six kills and Maddy Dalsted smacked five kills for Onalaska.

Onalaska coach Terri Dalsted also praised freshmen Phoebe Rich — who had three blocks and seven touches — and Alicia Vint, who had flawless serving numbers on the night.

"We struggled with getting a solid hit on the ball consistently," Dalsted said. "That is something we are going to be focusing on going forward. I am impressed with the girls, though. They never gave up and we even came back from a ten point deficit at one point. Something I've seen different this year is our drive to win and, in this league, that's very important."

The Loggers (2-2 nonleague) will host Mossyrock on Tuesday.
