2B Volleyball: Toledo Sweeps Pe Ell, Keeps Season Alive

TOLEDO — The Indians put away Pe Ell in three sets of Central 2B League volleyball action, 25-12, 25-9, 25-21, here Wednesday night to keep their postseason hopes alive.

The Indians’ win, combined with losses by Morton-White Pass and Onalaska, created a three-way tie — at 3-6 — for sixth place in the C2BL standings at the end of the regular season.

The three teams will play a tiebreaker on Friday to determine the league’s sixth, seventh and eighth-place teams.

Amanda Boone paced Toledo (5-10 overall) with 11 kills and nine blocks, while Sarah Subjeck had three kills, a block, 16 service points and 18 assists.

Jessica Kelly added seven kills, nine service points and three digs.

“We started out really strong, and then the second set was incredibly strong,” Toledo coach Whitney Luchau said. “The third set there was not as serious of focus as I would have liked, but regardless of that, we won, so we’ll take the win.”

Note: Toledo’s JV won, 25-12, 25-17. Standouts for Toledo were Skyheart Yantis, Emily Tyner and Maria Carpenter.

Vikings Seal Top Seed With Win Over Loggers

MOSSYROCK — The Vikings officially sealed the top seed out of the Central 2B League with a four-game win over Onalaska here Wednesday night, taking down the Loggers 25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 25-20.

Ronnie Kinsman paced Onalaska with a whopping 30 kills, adding in four blocks, and Maddy Dalsted adding nine kills.

“We played with a lot of intensity and communication tonight,” Logger coach Terry Dalsted said. “That’s probably the best we’ve played this whole season, because of that.”

Nicolle Duryea added 40 assists for the Loggers, while Heather Pannkuk served 15 of 16 and was cited by her coach for solid passing. Colee Masciola tallied 29 defensive passes and served 8 of 8.

Eva Nelson served 23 for 25 with four aces and added 21 assists for Mossyrock, while Calli Hensch served 17 of 19 with two aces and piled up 18 kills and 26 on-target passes. Kelsie Moorcroft served 12 of 12 with four kills and didn’t commit a hitting error in the contest.



“We had a pretty good serving night,” Mossyrock coach Alex Nelson said. “We didn’t have a great hitting night, but we managed to pull it out.”

Cary McDaniel served 14 of 14 with three kills, including a few key swings in the second set, Nelson added, and Amber St. Pierre served 11 of 11.

The Loggers (5-9, 3-6 league) will play in a three-way tiebreaker with Morton-White Pass and Toledo on Friday at Mossyrock, starting at 5:45 p.m. The top team will advance to the District 4 tournament, while the second-place team will have a shot at district play with a pigtail game against the No. 7 team out of the Pacific 2B League.

Mossyrock (8-1 league) will open district play on Saturday, at home, against the winner of the aforementioned pigtail game.

Napavine Falls to Toutle, Takes Third in C2BL

TOUTLE — The Tigers couldn't get started early while Toutle Lake blazed to a 25-8, 25-16, 26-24 Central 2B League victory to wrap up the regular season. Mollie Olson posted 12 kills and eight digs, but the offense sputtered for Napavine.

"Our girls came out two steps behind and we couldn't get anything going until the third game," Napavine coach Monica Dailey said. "We had a lot of trouble finding the court and didn't have a lot of communication. It wasn't the team we've seen all year long so I hope we've gotten this out of our system."

Angel Parker added four kills and a block kill while Makayla Dailey added four kills and nine digs.

The loss puts the Tigers (7-2 league, 10-4 overall) third in the final C2BL standings. They’ll face the No. 5 team out of the Pacific 2B League at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Northwest Christian School in Lacey in the first round of the District 4 tournament.

Adna Sweeps Morton-White Pass

RANDLE — Adna picked up a three-game sweep of Morton-White Pass 25-22, 25-12, 25-20 here on Wednesday night and finished the regular season fifth in the Central 2B League standings heading into the District 4 tournament.

Morton-White Pass got 21 assists and 9 for 9 serving with two kills from Madison King, while Taylor Brooks added seven kills. Haley Kolb notched nine kills and two blocks. The Timberwolves (3-6 league, 6-8 overall) will play in a three-way playoff with Onalaska and Toledo on Friday in Mossyrock.
