ONALASKA — The Loggers had their bats going, but errors hindered their efforts and Mossyrock broke out the broom in a Central 2B League doubleheader sweep by scores of 8-7 and 14-8 here Monday.

The first game went eight innings, and Onalaska had a chance to end it with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh. The Loggers got a sacrifice fly to make it 7-7, but couldn’t get the walkoff win. Danny Nelson hit a game-winning RBI triple to put things away for the Vikings in the top of the eighth.

Onalaska outhit Mossyrock 10-5, but had too many walks and hit batters, Logger coach Kyle Smaciarz said. Jack Beck had three hits with a double, while Zach Caldwell had two doubles and Jobe Farrington had two hits.

“The Nelson kid put a good swing on it,” Smaciarz said. “Their five hits were timely and they scored runs when they needed to.”

Taylen Clevenger and Kade Senter each had two hits for the Vikings.

In the second game, Onalaska committed five errors and Mossyrock notched a 5-run fourth inning to pull ahead for good in a 14-8 victory called off early due to darkness.

Kade Senter drove in 3 runs for the Vikings, who had just four hits as a team.

“We left a lot of guys on base, which really hurt us, and we gave up the free passes again,” Smaciarz said.

Trace Lawrence had three singles for the Loggers, while teammate Caldwell had an RBI double, Farrington had a 2-run single and Cody Hamrick had two hits, with a double and 2 RBIs.

Onalaska (1-13, 2-13 league) plays at Pe Ell against the Titans on Wednesday, while Mossyrock (4-10) will play at Winlock.
