ABERDEEN — Tenino rallied late here Tuesday to ward off Aberdeen, 7-5, in Evergreen 2A/1A League softball action.

The Beavers trailed 5-2 heading into the seventh inning, but hits from Felicia Gubbe and Morgan Masters, followed by a trio of Aberdeen errors, and an RBI single from Na’Taya Holmes, erased the deficit and Tenino its seventh win of the season.

Morgan Masters got the win in the circle for Tenino, working all seven innings with three strikeouts, a walk, 10 hits and just one earned run.

“She pitched a great game,” Tenino coach KaTrina Haupert said. “And (catcher Felicia) Gubbe — not only did she call the game, but she had some clutch hits.”

Gubbe went 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI, and Merissa Richardson was 2 for 3. Molly Eckardt drove in two runs, and Masters was 1 for 3 with an RBI.

“We had some really good plays, but we also showed a few things that we can improve on that we’ll be hammering out at practice,” Haupert said. “Mostly mental errors. The physical skills are there. It’s just the mental game.”

Tenino (7-0, 4-0 league) hosts Aberdeen on Thursday.
