2A Girls Tennis: Centralia Falls to Columbia River

VANCOUVER — Centralia’s top singles player and doubles duo won, but Columbia River won the other matches to earn a 4-2 win in a nonleague girls tennis match here on Thursday.

Ruth Hopkins won her match for the Tigers against Sarah Robeck, 6-4, 6-2. Centralia’s Rachel Wilkerson and Carissa Kaut took down Piper and Truly Rylander, 6-1, 7-5.

Columbia River’s Zoe Mikalatos defeated Angelica Vercoe, 6-0, 6-0 and Irene Bibian won the other singles match for the Chieftans against Emily Grove, 6-4, 6-0.



In doubles, Chloe Updahl and Madison Mollahan needed three sets to defeat Centralia’s Brynna Rooklidge and Grace Wiley, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Kaitlyn Sipes and Sara Blackwell won against the Tigers’ Shannon Johnson and Monica Jimenez, 6-2, 6-0.

Centralia (2-1) travels to Lacey to face Timberline on Friday in a nonleague match.
