2A Boys Golf: Thomas' 39 Not Enough for Tiger Golfers

TUMWATER — Noah Thomas shot his best round of the season, but Tumwater’s Jordan Baird stole match medalist honors here in the T-Birds’ 205-241 win over the Tigers in Evergreen 2A Conference boys golf action at Tumwater Valley Golf Course.

Baird shot a 2-under-par 34, carding the lowest score on the course Thursday by 5 strokes.

Thomas shot a 39 to lead Centralia.

“He had a great round,” said Centralia coach Hal Gronseth. “He’s flirted with (40) a couple different times. He had a 6- or 8-foot putt on the ninth hole to do that, and he was really excited to break 40.”

Deter Voetberg shot a 42 for the Tigers, while Owen Allen fired a 47.

Dylan Christoffer shot a 39 and Zach Groginski and Blake Yost each carded 45s for the T-Birds.

Centralia (2-6, 0-6 league) will play in the Evergreen 2A Conference championship meet on Thursday, back at Tumwater Valley Golf Course.
