Posted

TENINO — The Beaver defense held Forks to just 39 yards of offense en route to a 47-14 Evergreen 2A/1A Division victory here on Friday night. Tenino, meanwhile, rushed for 280 yards, never passed, and led 40-0 at halftime.

“Our kids played very well and we just wanted them to keep improving week to week,” Tenino coach Randy Swilley said. “We didn’t want any letdowns.”

The balanced Beaver attack saw Thomas Pier score three touchdowns and rush for 123 yards on 14 carries. Quarterback Calvin Guzman finished with 80 yards on the ground and two scores, while Kaleb Strawn had 60 yards and a rushing touchdown.

“Our running game was a big deal for us in this game,” Swilley said. “And the emergence of our kicker Bailey O’Neil. He had several good kickoffs, made most of our PATs and he’s never kicked before.”

O’Neil finished with five made extra points in the game.

Tenino (4-1, 2-1 league) plays at Aberdeen on Friday.
