Toledo Lions Endorse School Bond

What do you do when you learn that someone in your community is in trouble? Here in Toledo, we ask ourselves, “How can I help?” Sometimes that means helping feed, clothe or house one of our neighbors; sometimes that means donating time, energy or labor; sometimes that means volunteering your knowledge, skills or capabilities. It means pitching in, however you can, so that we can build something greater than we can build as individuals.

The Toledo Lions Club, like all Lions clubs, is founded on the idea of service. We are a nonpartisan and non-denomenational organization; all are welcome to contribute for the good of the community. As a club, we come together to raise food and funds for a variety of charitable causes, and to make Toledo a better place to live for everyone who spends any time in our community.

But this November, an incredible opportunity is coming our way that will benefit our community in a way that’s unmatched: We have the potential to build a brand new, state-of-the-art high school that will help our town grow and thrive like never before.

Our existing high school is in dire condition, and simply bringing it up to code would be an expensive and laborious proposition. But thanks to an incredible grant offered by the state of Washington, we could get a $25 million new school by investing just $7 million as a community.

It’s the best deal that our school district has seen in my lifetime. As the father of a daughter in Toledo Elementary School, I don’t just want this high school for my child, but for generations of Toledo children to come.

A rising tide lifts all boats, and if we vote yes on the school bond proposal that’s on our ballots, we’ll see Toledo’s tide rise higher than ever before. Voting yes will cost us less, and will give back more to the community than any of us ever could on our own.

The Toledo Lions Club is proud to endorse the November bond for a new school, and we ask all Toledo residents for your yes vote this election season. The future of our town is at stake, and a yes vote is how you can help.
