Letter: Will Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson Turn You Into Felon?

Posted

In January 2014, Gabrielle Gifford, former congresswoman from Arizona, testified before a Washington state House panel.

Her influence in conjunction with huge amounts of money contributed by Michael Bloomberg, George Soros, Paul Allen and others culminated in the passage of Initiative 594.

The gun grabbers have figured out the best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time. Once again, the gun grabbers in Olympia have found renewed vigor after the win in King County's 45th District of Democrat Manka Dhingra.

The party of progressives now control the House and the Senate with all the backing they need from the governor and the attorney general. Who knows what they might do?

They might make the owner of a flower shop in Richland a criminal — oh that's right, sideshow Bob already did that.

A handful of anti-gun legislators have made it clear that they are coming after your guns one bite at a time. Starting Jan. 15, Senate Bill 5050, House Bill 1134, Senate Bill 5444, House Bill 1387, Senate Bill 5463, House Bill 1122, Senate Bill 5992 and Senate Bill 6049 are all on the agenda.

It has not been posted yet which bills will be heard and the times that the public hearings will take place.

I, like many of you, have a gun or two that will no longer be legal to own if these bills pass. I have a Savage 22-LR semi automatic that holds 15 rounds. My dad got me this used gun when I was 12 years old.

It was not pretty and doesn't look any better now. I put thousands of rounds down the barrel, and the rifling is now gone so the gun is nothing more than a keepsake.

If Senate Bill 5444 passes, I will need to register this gun that I have had for over 51 years or I am in violation of the law. If Senate Bill 5050 passes, I can no longer possess this gun or I will be considered a criminal and can be charged with a felony.

If Senate Bill 5463 passes, I will need to allow law enforcement to invade my home so as to make sure that my firearms are locked and secured. If the bad guy breaks in, I can only hope that I can unlock and load my gun in time to protect my family.

I see it didn't take long for the new senator, Dhingra, to get in the act as a co-sponsor of Senate Bill 5992. It is notable that most, if not all, of these new proposed bills are at the request of Attorney General Bob Ferguson.

Like most of you, I am a law abiding citizen and have done nothing to deserve this. These bills are nothing more than government overreach that violates our United States Constitution as well as Washington State Constitution of which they have all sworn an oath to uphold.

If someone asks if bad people having guns scares me, my answer would be, not as much as my government trying to take mine away.
