Letter to the Editor: WSU Lewis County Master Gardeners Thank the Community

Posted

The Master Gardener Foundation of Lewis County would like to thank the local and surrounding communities for their ongoing support of our annual plant sale. Our foundation is a non-profit 501 C (3) organization. The plant sale is our primary source of income, providing funds critical to meeting the financial needs of Lewis County’s WSU Extension’s Master Gardener Program. Collaborating with WSU Lewis County Extension, the foundation supports free gardening workshops with the focus of educating the public. Workshops are offered beginning in February and end in October. The workshops are held at various locations across Lewis County. We also offer two all-day “Gardening For Everyone” workshop at Centralia College, Plant and Insect Clinics to help diagnose plant problems and insect identification and other gardening concerns. All of these events are free to the public and we can offer this due to your support of our plant sale.We also support four WSU Extension Demonstration Gardeners located at: Fort Borst in Centralia, Providence Place in Chehalis, Salkum Garden at the Salkum Timberland Regional Library, and at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds. We also support a Youth Outreach Program at Lintott Elementary School, and Toledo Elementary School. In addition, The Master Gardener Foundation of Lewis County offers three scholarships to worthy students at Centralia College. We would also like to thank all those who supported our plant sale through advertising as well as Walmart, which lent us 100 shopping carts. If you like gardening, and want to meet people who share our interest in gardening, you might want to consider becoming a Master Gardener by calling Jason Adams at 360-740-1216 or email: Jason.adams@lewiscountywa.gov.
