Letter to the Editor: What Is Going on Within Our Elected Government?

Posted

I am getting more frustrated every day. Has common sense been eroded completely from our elected representatives? Yes, is my personal opinion.

First, we elected a president who, it seems, does not want to behave himself. Next we have a group of officials who want to take every means possible to give him a bad time and eventually remove him from office. So, the impeachment process begins, costing millions in taxpayer dollars and using up many days and many government people who should be working on domestic issues affecting the citizens and taxpayers of our country.

What is really accomplished by all of this? I think the rest of the world will say, “We don’t think the United States is as great as they believe they are.”

All I can see is a tremendous loss of time and money, plus a failed reputation as the leader of the free world. Our national debt goes unattended right along with all the problems we face as a nation. Removing a president with whatever faults he has, and he has some, using this impeachment process makes no sense to me. I guess I am just an old conservative meddler willing to write a letter to the editor for all to read, so who cares.

At least I still think I have a reasonable amount of common sense. How about getting back to the “United” part of the United States of America.
