Letter to the Editor: A Response to ‘Attacks’ From Pro-Bond Voters

Posted

Here is a short answer to the “teacher” who wrote a rant against me, “Don’t be like Bob Reid.” Really now?

If it wasn’t for Bob Reid’s efforts, who’s been credited for knocking down your first ridiculous bond for $23.5 million (which all Toledo tax payers would have had to pay for) and then his efforts to knock down the price of the second bond for $14.2 million, and then his efforts to knock down the price of their third bond for $12.9 million (which also happened) to their last bond of $12.2 million, to now, which is proposed to be $7 million, you sir should be kissing the ground that he walks on! Mr. Reid doesn’t get that $53-54,000 dollars average teachers income as you, nor does he get that three month paid vacations that teachers get. He’s worked hard to bring a bond down to where the retired people in Toledo may be able to pay for it if they choose to, yet you folks want to attack him for all of his time and pay-less efforts that he’s put into this.

Mr. Reid has no idea if this $7 million bond will fly or not here, but he’s put in more time than any other person into seeing that the poor people of Toledo would not have to pay anymore then they have to. He’s been fighting for these people (over 32 years) here since you were a kid going to our schools and you are just blind to the history of his fights and efforts. Why on earth would you suggest that he leave this area? He’s always been a supporter of our kids and their education, but he believes that the education needs are 10 times more important than those sport programs’ needs are and he has never blinked on that statement.
