Velma Ilene Johnston

Velma Ilene Johnston was born Aug. 4, 1931, a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went to be with her family in heaven April 15, 2018.

She attended Mossyrock High School and was an original resident of Riffe, Wash. Velma and her husband of 37 years, Stormy Johnston, were longtime residents of Toledo. Singing country music with her husband, family and friends, brought joy to Velma. She spoke often of their visits to retirement centers and other places they entertained. Velma also enjoyed spending time with Stormy at the South County Park, where he was a caretaker for seven years.

She is survived by her husband, Stormy; son, Burlyne Hurley of Toledo; daughters, Donna Osgood and Terry Charlie, both of Rochester; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; 10 nieces and nephews; and six Johnston step-children and their families.

A potluck celebration of life will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., May 5, 2018, at the Toledo Senior Center. You are invited to bring your favorite dish and stories of times shared with Velma.
