Steven L. Baxter

Steven L. Baxter, 73, of Winlock, Wash., passed away, Aug. 27, 2018. He was born to Sybil (Waring) and Marvin Baxter, Jan. 4, 1945, in Chehalis Wash.  

Steve graduated from W.F. West High School in 1963. Steve first married Wanda Roberts and they had two sons, Bryan and Randy. In May 1992, Steve met and later married Barbara Peterson, gaining four kids, Brian, Tracie, Angela and Carrie.

As a teenager he worked at Uhlmann Motors, cleaning up after hours. In high school, Steve excelled at football, playing running back. After graduation, he attended Centralia Community College and then decided to pursue the electrician trade. Steve became an electrician joining IBEW Local 76 and worked for 40 years, retiring at the age of 59 in 2004.

Together, Steve and Barb developed their love of horses and in 1999, purchased a small farm. They spent countless hours remodeling and building the farm to the beautiful property it is today. Steve also enjoyed hunting, fishing, reloading, four wheeling, camping and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Bryan (Lisa) Baxter, Randy (Rayce) Baxter and Brian (Wendy) Peterson; daughters, Tracie (Bill) Thomas, Angela (Herman) Drake and Carrie (Paul) Fountain; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, at Sticklin Funeral Chapel, 1437 S. Gold St., Centralia. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Winlock and Toledo Fire Departments through the funeral home.
