Phillip E. Mee

Phillip E. Mee, 70, of Chehalis, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 12, 2013, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Wash.  Phil was born on Sept. 23, 1942, to Ernest Lavern and Loice (Spear) Mee, in Yakima, Wash. He grew up in Trego, Mont., on the Mee homestead, with five siblings, Howard, Ted, LeRoy, Gwendolyn and Norma. In 1959, Phil attended and graduated from Plains High School in Plains, Mont., Then in 1961, he graduated from Kinnman University in Spokane, Wash., with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Accounting.

Phil worked for the Northern Pacific Railway, was a reservist in the U.S. Coast Guard, sold life insurance in Longbeach, Calif., he also worked for  North American Aviation in their Apollo program, Van Camp Seafood, Dunlap Oil Company and Aurora Aircraft. It wasn’t until late 1968, that Phil began his CPA apprenticeship in Kent, Wash. In 1971, Phil opened his own accounting firm in the Olympia area where he maintained the business until 2008 when he made the decision to move the business to his home in Chehalis. Phil moved to Chehalis in 1984, with his three children, and in 1995, he married the love of his life, Karen Marie (VanWychen) and her daughter, Cherie.

Phil was a kind and practical man, who loved his family, he could always be counted on. In his spare time, Phil enjoyed sitting in his boat in the middle of the lake, fishing pole in-hand, with a smile on his face or in Montana, deer hunting on the family homestead. Phil will be always be remembered sense of humor and his love of everyone.

Phil is survived by wife, Karen Marie, children, Heather Rose (Mee) Battle, Sean Phillip Mee, Burke William Mee and Cheri Marie (Hall) Tavarez, grandchildren, McKenna Battle, Cole Battle, Henoc Tavarez II, Hailey Tavarez and Conner Mee and his brother, LeRoy. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Howard, Ted, Gwendolyn, and Norma.
