Mark George Myhre, 64, passed away at home Nov. 8, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 4, 1950, in Centralia, Washington to Robert “Bob” and Louise (Jennings) Myhre.

Mark was raised in Onalaska, Washington and graduated from Onalaska High School before continuing on to technical college, where he completed training as an electrician.  He started his business, Onalaska Electric, in 1971, which included the Onalaska Electric Company Hardware Store. Mark was a well-accomplished man, who held many professional licenses including electrician, general contractor, administrator and plumber.  He truly loved what he did and his community, often saying that if he could’ve afforded to do it for free, he would have.

He was a member of the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department for almost 40 years, retiring as fire chief in 2011, due to health reasons. Mark was a three time Past Master of the Robert Morris Lodge and a proud Shriner.

He met his match, Nina and their long friendship was solidified in love when they married in 1999. Earlier in his life, Mark was an avid fisherman and loved to play cribbage. He loved John Deere tractors and memorabilia and enjoyed talking about his collection with others.  He and Nina enjoyed short trips to Reno, staying out late and cultivating a fun, happy marriage through great experiences. His was a busy life, but he always made time for the people he loved. His generosity was unexpected and heartfelt and though we will never know all the anonymous ways in which he gave to others, a few of us were fortunate enough to witness it. The loss of Mark is extraordinary, as he was such an extraordinary man, but we will continue to honor him in every way possible.

He leaves behind his wife, Nina; daughters from his previous marriage, Sandra and Melissa (Nick Isaacson); children inherited through marriage to Nina, Gretchen, Pat, Renee and Jake; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; father, Robert; and two siblings, Darrell and Marlene.

A celebration of life service will be held Nov. 28, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Onalaska Assembly of God Church, with a potluck to follow.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up online at www.gofundme.com/markmyhre.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cattermole Funeral Home, Winlock.
