Lydia Ellen Hill

Lydia Ellen Hill of Toledo, Wash., passed away Jan. 20, 2020, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 7, 1941, to Richard and Alafair Deel, moving to Washington in 1963.

In Washington, she raised her three children, worked as a cashier and gained a multitude of friends who were drawn to her happy positive nature. She loved her home and family, using her abundant energy to decorate, garden, can and especially cook. Nobody left her house hungry!

Lydia was preceded in death by her son, Jim Yates; parents; brothers, Willis Deel and Raymond Deel; and sister, Blanche Yates.

She is survived by her daughters, Teri (Ron) Nowlen, Andrea (Rick) Davis; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann (Bob) Porter, Molly (Buford) Counts, Jean (Larry) Peterson and Tennessee Thayer. She is also survived by her devoted husband, Jerry, who was the love of her life. Their love story was special as he was her first love and also her last.

A memorial service was held at Jackson Prairie Church, Jan. 25, 2020.
