John Duane Padgett

John Duane Padgett was born March 8, 1946, and passed away peacefully May 4, 2018, at his home after battling cancer. He was born in Anacortes, Wash., to Robert and Lois Padgett.

John joined the United States Marine Corps in 1965, and returned home in 1966, after being wounded. Upon returning, he married his high school sweetheart, Marsha (Collins) Padgett March 22, 1967.

He loved the outdoors. John spent many years hunting, fishing and in his younger years, 4x4ing with his best friend, Grant Massengale. He also had a passion for gardening and taking care of his animals.

He was preceded in his death by his mother, Lois Casey; stepdad, Paul Casey; father, Robert Padgett; and brother, Bob Padgett.

John is survived by his wife, Marsha Padgett of 51 years; sons, Bruce Padgett and Smokey Padgett (Brenda Padgett); and daughters, Marshanna Drop (Mike Basham) and Bobby Goodwin (Lyle Goodwin); five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life and barbecue dinner will be held in honor of John from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, June 10, 2018, at the Borst Park large shelter, 2020 Borst Ave., Centralia, Wash. A graveside service and military honors will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 11, 2018, at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash.
