Jennie E. “Bette” Sweet of Chehalis, passed away Aug. 17, 2019, at St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. She was born in Kansas Oct. 17, 1930, to Jesse and Helen Minnick.
Bette married Paul Sweet in January of 1948. She enjoyed gardening, genealogy, her grandchildren and airplanes. Bette and Paul loved vacationing in their motor home across the United States, and yearly trips to Paul’s U.S. Navy reunions.
Bette was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Paul, in 2012; son-in-law, Darrell; and grandson, Jesse Backinger.
Bette will be remembered with great memories and love by her daughters, Linda Sams and Nancy Backinger; son, Scott Sweet; brother, Eldon Minnick; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life potluck will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at the Historical Train Depot, 210 Railroad Ave., Centralia, WA 98531.
