Hollis McCorkill Lester passed away in Olympia August 27, 2004. Hollis, born in Bird City, KS, March 25, 1909, was the daughter of T.H. & Flora McCorkill.
She had four sisters and one brother who preceded her in death. She attended nursing school at City Hos-pital, Fayetteville, AK with training at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago.
Hollis married Fred Lester in 1933 and they moved to Washington in 1939.
Hollis worked in many areas of nursing until her retirement from the Lewis Country Health Dept. in 1972. Hollis is survived by her daughter Elwanda (William) Bryant; her grandchildren William (Barbara) Bryant, Renee (Thomas) Stocks, John (Cindy) Bryant, Michelle (Matthew) Ledbetter, Jean-ette (David) Sharp; her great-grandchildren Thom-as, Andrew, Cole, Madisan, Jack and William; her nieces Jeannie Lee and Barbara Schmotzer Higley, her great nephews Jim and John Schmotzer. Services will be held at Mt. View Baptist Church, 1201 Bel-mont Ave. Centralia on Friday, September 3 at 3 p.m. Memorial gifts are suggested to Mt. View Bap-tist in memory of Hollis Lester.
