 Gary Wayne Bivins, 66, passed away June 18, 2015 in Seattle at the VA Hospital.

Gary was born on May 29, 1949 in Aberdeen, Washington to Jack and Violet Bivins. As a young child his family moved to Centralia. Gary attended Centralia schools and graduated in 1968. Soon after graduation, he was drafted by the U.S. Army. After boot camp he spent some time in Germany, later assigned to Vietnam. Towards the end of Gary’s tour is when he was injured. He came back home to Centralia where, he lived out the rest of his life.

Gary loved spending time with his cars, which was such a passion of his. From attending car shows, going to the races, being a mechanic and most of all driving. Other hobbies of Gary’s were collecting things. Over the years he collected watches, scooters, cats, tools, cars and many more. His favorite vacation spots were, Reno and Laughlin, he loved to gamble, playing the slots and keno and enjoying the hot weather. However Gary’s greatest passion was hanging out at many restaurants, Sambo’s, Vip’s, King Solomon’s and Denny’s. He loved chatting with the waitresses, making new friends and reading his newspaper.

Gary loved his family. Surviving family members of 30 years are Ellie Bivins, Gabriel Hacker, Bradley Hacker and Zooey Hacker; brother, Clinton Bivins.

He was preceded in death by his beloved pets, Buddy and Chewy; and his parents, Violet and Jack Bivins.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery. At Gary’s request no one should dress up. Gary wanted everyone to be comfortable. Please wear jeans and tee shirts. A gathering afterward at the Centralia Denny’s.
