Deloris passed  away peacefully with family by her side, at Prestige in Centralia, at the age of 86. She was the daughter of Howard Lee Thornsbury, Agnes Evelyn Herriford (Dodds) and stepfather Earl Dodds; she was one of three children.

Deloris Agnes, Dixie Lee and Richard Earl Dodds grew up in San Diego, before moving to Washington in 1943, living in the Centralia area.

She was preceded in death by her mother; father; brother, Richard; and husbands, Lawrence Parypa (1963) and John Denny Malnerich (1994).

Deloris married Lawrence Parypa Jr. in 1952. During 11 years together,  they had three children,  Robert Neal Parypa (Janet), Joseph Lawrence Parypa (Ellen) and Krista Lynn Parypa.

After Lawrence’s passing, she dedicated herself to raising her three children. When she met and married John Denny Malnerich in 1968, they joined the two families.  They became a family of five with Denny’s children, John Robert Malnerich (Debbie) and Trudy Ruth Carlson.

Throughout the 26 years together, they enjoyed time with their 11 grandchildren. Continuing on with family, Deloris was happy to have 17 great-grandchildren.

They joined their families together at a farm on Lincoln Creek.  Together, they enjoyed life on the farm raising cattle, horses, vegetable and flower gardens. Deloris spent a lot of time creating beautiful flower gardens that bloomed gloriously all spring, summer and fall. The gardens were also the inspiration for many of her colorful pieces of artwork. She spent many hours creating paintings that were popular and favored by local collectors. Deloris was a member of the Lewis County Art League, The Art Shop Gallery and superintendant of the Senior Art Department of the Southwest Washington Fair. She also displayed her paintings  in various galleries,  art shows, entered juried shows, even judging art shows herself.

Denny and Deloris enjoyed many things together, their favorite was spending time together on the farm, traveling, the ocean, beaches, playing cards and games with  friends or family.

Deloris will be greatly missed, her legacy lives on through the expressions in her artwork. She will be forever in our hearts.

A service will be held at Newell-Hoerling’s Mortuary, Saturday, April 30, 2016, at 10:30 a.m.
