David K. Thompson

David K. Thompson, 69, passed away in the arms of his wife due to complications from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. He was born at the old St. Peter Hospital in Olympia and was raised in Tumwater. 

David attended Tumwater High School where he was first chair trumpet in the all-state band. He then received his associate of arts degree from Centralia College and graduated with a biology degree from Western Washington University. He joined the United States Air Force Reserves and served our country as a medic. After active duty, he began a 35 plus year science teaching career at Centralia Middle School. He loved his colleagues, students, and the rewards and challenges that came with his job.

David loved to snow ski, travel the world, cook and garden. Just recently, he was able to spend time in Mesa, Ariz., and cruise to the Panama Canal. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.  

David is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 48 years, Linda; son, Seth; daughter, Jin; brother, Kevin (Kathy); sister-in-law, Barb Narozonick (Dan Neuhauser); cousins, Barb Huffman (Walt) & Joanne Gormel; numerous nieces; nephews; and close friends.  

A memorial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, at Mills & Mills Funeral Home in Tumwater.
