Carl enjoyed hunting, flying in his Cesna, camping, military Jeeps, playing guitar and making hunting knives. His two trips to Alaska were often part of his conversations as well as hunting stories. He was an National Rifle Association member and avid supporter of the second amendment. Carl owned and operated Carl’s Repair for over 40 years, building custom rifles and gunsmithing. He was an avid reader and enjoyed discussing the Bible. Carl married Nellie Sellers Nov. 27, 1948, in Chehalis, Wash. They purchased their home in Oakville in 1955, and resided there until their passing. They celebrated their 70th anniversary last November.

Carl was a great provider for his family. He worked in the woods as a scaler, ran donkey and did whatever he could at the Lankner Mill. Carl retired after 27 years from the Oakville School District where he was a custodian, bus driver and maintenance man. The kids loved him sharing his Jaw Breaker Candies with them. Carl was a Gray’s Harbor County Reserve Deputy Sheriff for 20 years, a firefighter, EMT and fire chief during his 35 years with the Oakville volunteer Fire Department. Carl was the one who started the aid crew for the department. He served many years as a city councilman and was also Mayor. Carl served in Germany and France during World War II with the 39th Infantry 9th Division.

Carl is survived by sons, Richard A. (Jean) Lindholm and Steven C. Lindholm; daughter, Judith Lindholm-Dahl (Brian); five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
