Beulah Jean Lehman McMurry passed away  Nov. 20, 2015 at the age of 92. She was born Dec. 30, 1922 in Chehalis, Washington.

She lived in Ethel and attended grade school in Onalaska and then high school in Mossyrock. Shortly after graduation, she married Gene McMurry, who was in the United States Army and stationed in Florida. They made their home in Mossyrock, where she resided for over 70 years.

For 40 years, Beulah worked as the field boss for Anderson Blueberry Farm, retiring at age 70. She was honored for her dedication and work in 2010, when she was named grand marshal of the Blueberry Festival parade in Mossyrock.

The Honor an Elder program coordinated by Mossyrock Area Action League came together in 2011 to paint her home as a way of thanking her for over 70 years of commitment to the Mossyrock community. The story was highlighted in the local newspapers and evening news channel.

She loved to bake bread, pies and cookies. She loved to garden and can to stock her fruit room. Beulah had the most beautiful garden and was always proud to show it off when people would stop by. Of course, if you stopped by you would be invited to enjoy whatever yummy treat she had made fresh that morning.

Beulah was always up for an adventure. She loved the beach and digging clams and made the best chowder around. She fished, hunted and floated the Rogue River on a four day float trip and rafted the Tieton in her late 80s, a trip she couldn’t wait to brag about at the 50 plus club.

For her 90th birthday she enjoyed being queen for a day, being picked up in a stretch limo and being treated to a fabulous dinner with her family in Seattle on the waterfront.

Beulah always gave to others and made the world a better place.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene McMurry; sons, Jerome “Scotty”, Roderick and  Gregory; and daughter, Diana.

Beulah was a gold star mother, losing her son, Roderick, a United States Marine during Vietnam. She was a dedicated military mom and great-grandma. Beulah was so proud of her great-grandson, Zach, who is currently deployed serving overseas. She loved sending care packages to show her support to him and his team.

Beulah leaves behind six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren with a fourth being born in December.

A potluck and celebration of her beautiful life will be at the Mossyrock Grange located at 152 Isabel Road, Mossyrock, Washington on Nov. 28, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.
