Bernadette Butterworth

Bernadette Butterworth passed away at Logan Manor in Centralia on July 20, 2018.  She was born in a log cabin on Waunches Prairie in Centralia on September 16, 1921 to Charles and Laura Fisher.  She graduated from Castlerock High School in 1940 and attended Seattle University School of Nursing for 2-1/2 years. Because of the nurse shortage during WWII, Bernadette returned to Centralia and worked at Centralia General Hospital.

In June of 1944 she married Robert (Bob) Butterworth and moved to the family farm in the Big Hanaford Valley and became a dedicated dairy wife.  Bernadette and Bob were married for 60 years until his passing in 2005.

Bernadette was preceeded in death by her husband Robert, her son Joseph Butterworth in 1998 , her granddaughter Shari Butterworth in 1966, her sister Catherine Robertson in 2003, as well as her parents Charles (1958) and Laura Fisher (1950).

She is survived by her son, Jerry Butterworth (Janet), eight grandchildren, Kenneth Butterworth (Kristin), Jill Gonzales (Johnny), Jeff Butterworth (Letha), Sheila Wink (Mike), Jackie Williams (Steve), Jody Stewart (Brandon), Jeremy Butterworth (Tory) and Juli Meyer (Jim), two step granddaughters Stormy Bradley and Wendy Whitson (Shannon) as well as numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

A funeral mass for Bernadette will be at St. Mary Parish in Centralia on Thursday, July 26 at 11:00 AM with interment to follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
