Una Mae Highland Simonitis La Rue, 84, a resident of Ethel since 1995, died January 31, 2004 at her home in Ethel.
She was born March 12, 1919 in Clarksburg, WV. She moved to Stamford, CT with her mother and stepfather, Leonard and Ella Highland Pockl. There she met and married Alexander Simonitis.
He preceded her in death in June of 1964 after 24 years of marriage.
Six years later she married Edward S. LaRue. They spent 9 wonderful months together before his death from cancer.
Una is survived by: daughters: JoAnn Brown, Boulder, CO, Ella Mae Cooke Rodriguez, Mes-quite, TX, Frances Bots-ford, Rhinebeck, NY and Catherine (Kay) Abbruzzese, Ethel, WA; 11 grand-children and 23 great grandchildren.
In 1978 Una moved with her daughter, Catherine and her family to Mesquite, TX and in 1995 moved with Catherine and Frank to Ethel, WA where they operate Fish Country Sports.
Una enjoyed hearing about all her grand-children and great grand-children, her dog "Gizmo", playing cards, reading, going to the beach and mountains and playing Bingo. She enjoyed loving relationships as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and good friend to so many that knew her. We will miss her every day.
Upon cremation arrange-ments under the direction of Sticklin Funeral Chapel, Una will be taken to Stamford, CT to be near her family that have pre-ceded her many years ago.
