Winlock Fire District Levy Passing With 66 Percent of Vote

A proposed maintenance and operations levy for Lewis County Fire District 15 in Winlock is passing as of Tuesday night with 66 percent of the vote.

A total of 1,094 votes were cast in the ballot measure, with 726 voting in favor of the levy.



The levy is expected to collect $215,000 per year from 2018 through 2021 and is primarily intended to allow the district to hire an additional full-time firefighter to augment its weekday shifts, according to the district.

The next count of ballots will be announced Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Countywide, the voter turnout was estimated at just above 30 percent.
