Weekend Power Outages Affect Several Lewis County Communities

Starting at about 8 a.m. Saturday morning, the Lewis County Public Utilites District started responding to service calls from central and west county from customers without electricity. The outages resulted from heavy winds in the area.

The utility doesn’t have the technology to immediately count how many people were impacted. Cory Moses, a spokeswoman for the utility, said outages were reported in Winlock, Onalaska, Toledo and Mossyrock and other outlying areas. As of Monday morning power was restored to all PUD customers, she said.

Farther to the north, heavy storms over the weekend damaged the electrical system in more than 1,800 service areas for Puget Sound Energy customers over the weekend.

The utility, however said, showed online that only two customers in Rochester still were without power.

Whatcom and Skagit counties were hit the hardest, with over 35,000 customers left without power as of Sunday. Some communities in north King, Kitsap, Whatcom and Skagit counties will be without electricity until this evening.
