Voices: Two Lewis County Firefighters Leading State Association

Volunteer Captain Julie Johnston of Lewis County Fire District 6 and volunteer Ed Mund of Riverside Fire Authority were sworn in on the Washington State Fire Fighters’ Association (WSFFA) Board of Trustees at the just-concluded 95th Annual WSFFA Conference and Fire School in Wenatchee.

Johnston was also appointed Board Secretary. Mund was re-appointed WSFFA Treasurer as well as Conference Coordinator, responsible for organizing and facilitating WSFFA’s 96th Annual Conference and Fire School in May 2019 in Wenatchee.

 Other WSFFA Board members installed included President John Ostergard, from East Olympia FD 6, First Vice President Larry Creekmore, Dupont Fire Department, Second Vice President David Neff, Franklin County FD 3, Immediate Past President Andrew Schaffran, South Thurston Fire & EMS and Board members included Gabe Baez, East Olympia FD 6, Jeremie Clark, Douglas County FD 2, Howard Scartozzi, WA State Fire Marshal Office, Ron Roy, Douglas County FD 2, Ryan Powers, Colville Fire Department



WSFFA, founded in 1923, is the oldest statewide fire service organization. Its mission is to represent the interests of the volunteer firefighters and EMS responders throughout the state of Washington.
