The Auxiliary for the Marine Corps League will be hosting a breakfast fundraiser 8-10 a.m. Saturday at the Chehalis Applebeel’s. The auxiliary will be raising money to mail Christmas gifts to troops in Afghanistan.

The $10 tickets will provide a breakfast of two pancakes, two bacon strips, two sausage links, two eggs and a beverage.

Recycling Event Planned for Pe Ell

Lewis County residents will have the opportunity to recycle passenger and light truck tires, on or off the rim, at a reduced price Saturday in Pe Ell.

The recycling event will be 10 a.m.-3 p.m. near the Town Hall office, 111 S. Main St.

Residential customers may bring in up to 25 passenger and light truck tires at 50 cents each during the special event, said Melanie Case, recycling program coordinator for the Lewis County Solid Waste Utility, which is organizing the event with officials at the town of Pe Ell. Cash or check will be accepted for the tire payment.

Several other materials may be recycled for free: appliances, including freezers, refrigerators, stoves, hot water tanks, washers, dryers and dish washers; computer monitors, CPUs, laptops and televisions; and yard debris such as grass clippings, branches and leaves.

Sensitive document shredding will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, too. Customers may bring in up to three bags or boxes of sensitive documents they would like shredded and then recycled.
