Ten Bike Racks Installed in Downtown Chehalis

Ten new bike racks have recently been installed in downtown Chehalis.

Funded through the Chehalis Community Renaissance Team, the racks were produced by local metal artist Shawn King, according to a press release. Then they were installed by city staff.

“We are so pleased to offer an option for folks to park their bikes,” Renaissance Team Executive Director Annalee Tobey said in a press release. “Without a better alternative, bikes downtown were being chained to everything from garbage cans to benches.”

The goal of this project was to make biking safer and easier in downtown, the press release said. Six of the racks have been placed on Market Street, two are at the Chehalis Timberland Library and two are on Chehalis Avenue.

“We extend our thanks to our supportive local businesses and the hard-working city staff. The racks were installed just four days after they were delivered,” Tobey said.
