Sirens: Shooting Complaint, Burglaries, Scooter Crash

Centralia Police Department

Theft

• A woman reported someone stole a bicycle from her yard on the block of 1200 G Street at around 4:37 p.m. Monday.

• Amanda B. Smith, 22, Centralia was arrested and charged with third-degree theft for allegedly stealing a pack of lighters at 8:46 p.m. Monday.

• A caller reported two males were stealing a shopping cart at about 5:45 p.m. on the 1000 block of Belmont Avenue.

• A caller on the 700 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue reported two mountain bikes were stolen from the front porch of their house around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

• A 1991 Honda was reported stolen from the 1000 block of North Scheuber Road at 11:31 a.m. Wednesday.

Burglary

• A person of interest has been identified in a residential burglary on the 300 block of  L Street that was reported at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday.

Obstructing/Resisting Arrest

• Kenneth J. Zawadzinski, 27, Olympia, was arrested for obstructing a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest around 7:35 p.m. Tuesday. Officers responded to a report of a suspicious man trying to get into cars at the outlet malls. When they approached Zawadzinski, he refused to cooperate and tried to leave without identifying himself and resisted arrest.

Suspended License

• Russell E. Charnell III, 32, Centralia, was arrested and released for allegedly driving with a suspended license.

Violation of Protection Order

• Steven G. Thurman, 62, Centralia, was arrested for allegedly violating a no-contact order on the 1100 block of West Chestnut Street at 11:38 p.m. Monday.

Man Arrested for Outstanding Warrants

• David M. Serrano, 18, Centralia, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for outstanding warrants and was cited for allegedly driving with a suspended license at about 6:40 a.m. Tuesday.

 

Chehalis Police Department

Suspended Driver’s License

• Jefferey A. Petrich, 36, Centralia, was cited for allegedly driving with a suspended license and without insurance at 7:08 on Tuesday.

Marijuana Violation

• A fourth-grader was found with a pot pipe at the 2000 block of Southwest Salsbury Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The boy said he got it from a high school student. 

Fraud

• A caller from the 1000 block of Southwest Mills Avenue reported around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday that someone has been calling her 80-year-old mother-in-law and telling her she’s won money. The mother-in-law was told to go to Walgreens and is insisting on going. 

Animal Problems

• A caller on the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street reported he had caught a cat in a trap at the back of his house around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Malicious Mischief

• A person on the 1100 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue called to report her son “freaking out” and breaking things because she wouldn’t give him a bank card at around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. He left on foot and officers weren’t able to find him. He is being referred for arrest for malicious mischief.

Shooting Complaint

• Someone was reported for shooting between 10 and 12 rounds from possibly a shotgun near the 1000 block of Northwest Airport Road around

6:50 p.m. Tuesday.

Suspicious Circumstances

• A caller from the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported that someone was putting firecrackers under his truck around midnight Tuesday. He later saw two or three people standing around it.

 

Lewis County Sheriff’s Office

Malicious Mischief

•  A caller reported damage to a vacant commercial building on the 3300 block of Jackson Highway in Chehalis at 4:15 p.m. Monday. About $1,000 in damage was done to the front glass doors.

Burglary

• A man called to report a burglary on 100 block of Carter Lane in Chehalis, Monday. Someone had kicked in the man door of his shop; nothing was missing. Damage was estimated at $200.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered

• A stolen vehicle was found Monday at 6:23 p.m. on the 100 block of August Road, Cinebar. The 1991 Chevrolet S-10 was stolen during the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds then was recovered on a gravel road. It belongs to the Southwest Washington Fair and is valued at $500.  

Vehicle Theft

• A woman reported her 1997 Nissan truck, valued at $2,500, was stolen from the 200 block of Mandy Road in Toledo. It was taken some time between Saturday and Sunday. 

Protection Order Violation

• Patricia A. Carpenter, 50, Vader, is being referred for arrest for allegedly violating a protection order by calling a residence on the 400 block of A Street from a gas station in the area at about 7:20 p.m. Monday. Witnesses say they saw the woman and let her use the phone.

Stolen Car Leads to Minor in Possession

• Jessica M. Hankins, 18, Chehalis, was charged with minor in possession after deputies responded to a vehicle rolled over in a ditch and abandoned Tuesday at 3:30 a.m. on the 300 block of Highway 603 in Chehalis. They contacted the registered owner, who said his daughter usually drove it. Hankins said she’d been partying with her brother’s friends at her house and they were drinking before she went to bed. She said she left the car keys on the kitchen counter, and said someone must have taken the car and wrecked it. She allegedly smelled like alcohol when deputies talked to her.

Scooter Crash

• A 63-year-old Lake Tapps man crashed his scooter on Cooks Hill Road in Centralia Tuesday at  5:26 p.m. He was trying to turn left when he crashed. He sustained serious facial injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center.
