An earthquake geophysicist with the Washington Geological Survey will present a Rising Tide Seminar called “The Doty Fault: Are local earthquakes possible near Centralia?” at noon Friday at Centralia College.

Megan Anderson will give her presentation in Room 121 of the Walton Science Center. She grew up in Kent and was there when Mount St. Helens erupted more than 30 years ago. She studied earthquakes and the subduction process at the University of Arizona and taught for a decade at Colorado College.

Anderson will present research by WGS scientists into whether the Doty Fault, located near Chehalis, is active and discuss earthquakes generally as they pertain to this region.

The event is free to attend. For more information, call 360-623-8428.
