Ryderwood History Calendars Now on Sale

Posted

2018 Ryderwood history calendars are now on sale, featuring a collection of early photographs and articles.

“The calendar documents the complex planning that preceded the delivery of Ryderwood’s first logs to Longview’s mills,” stated a press release.

The suggested donation is $10 per calendar. All the proceeds go toward the development of a Ryderwood museum in Pioneer Hall. The calendars are available at Ryderwood’s gift shop The Nest and can be ordered online at ryderwood.org or by calling Ella at 360-903-8881. The Nest is open daily from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. except on Sundays until Saturday, Dec. 23.

Ryderwood became a planned community for retired people in 1953. It is located 9 miles from Interstate 5 Exit 59 at the end of state Route 506.

The “Village in the Woods” was built in 1923 by Long-Bell Lumber as a town for loggers and their families.
