Providence Health & Services in Southwest Washington is teaming with local organizations to organize a health fair, 5k run and men’s health event in the next few weeks.

The Healthier Together event is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday, with the 5K run starting at 9 a.m.

The run will include prizes for top finishers and is coordinated by the RunAmok Irish Running Club.

The health fair includes blood-pressure checks, cholesterol checks, glucose screenings, diabetes education and nutrition advice, chemical dependency information, advanced care planning, physical therapy advice and more.

The event also includes a kids’ dash and free bike helmets available for children.

The second event, “Cancer Risks for Men … or the Men in Your Life” is inspired by Centralia Rotarian Arnie Guenther.

The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Centralia College’s TransAlta Commons. Featured speakers include urologist Richard Greene and radiation/medical oncologist James Raymond.

This is the seventh year the Rotary and Providence have partnered on a men’s health event. Men and women are welcome at the free event to learn about cancer diagnosis and treatment as well as maintaining good health as you age.

Bring questions for doctors, nurses, physical therapists, advance care planners, patient navigators and more.

Light refreshments will be provided by Centralia Rotary Club.
