Prosecutor’s Office Adds Two Home Rule Charter Information Sessions

The Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office has scheduled two additional information classes for the home rule charter and freeholder processes.

The sessions are scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. April 24 at the Centralia Rotary meeting at O’Blarneys Irish Pub at 221 N. Tower Avenue and April 26 at the Republican Club meeting at Ramblin Jack’s Rib Eye at 1336 Rush Road in Napavine.

“If you are interested in what this process is and how you can run for the open positions, these sessions will provide you all the information you will need,” according to a press release from the prosecutor’s office.

One Lewis County, a political action committee formed last year by the Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce, collected enough signatures early this year to put the election of freeholders and a measure allowing them to begin working to draft a county charter on November’s ballot.

If voters approve the measure, freeholders will begin work to draft a charter reshaping county government. One Lewis County has proposed a five-commissioner board with a county manager placed in the county’s code. However, freeholders will be allowed to choose whatever options they prefer.
