Paradise Fire Aid Super Jam Raises Thousands For California Wildfire Recovery

The North Valley Community Foundation in Chico, California recently received a check for about $4,500 as a result of The Paradise Fire Aid Super Jam NW that took place Feb. 16 at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds.

Local resident Bruce Maier, who lived for a time in the portion of Butte County that was destroyed last year by the Camp Fire, led efforts to organize the event as a fundraiser for the NVCF, which has played a central role in helping the community begin to rebuild.

Musicians came from far and wide for the daylong festival, donating their time and skills to the stage in front of hundreds of attendees. Local businesses donated items for a silent auction and raffles, including a new acoustic guitar. Lewis County ABATE provided crowd control, free of charge. Maier posted a video on Youtube late last month to provide an update and his personal thanks to those who attended.

“I wanted you to know that all of our efforts did pay off and we’ve shown some real love, Pacific Northwest style,” Maier said. “…We did a good thing. Thank you, I couldn’t have done it without all your help.”

Those interested in donating to the NVCF can do so at nvcf.org or by sending cash or check to 240 Main St., Chico, CA 95928.
