Posted

The public is invited to an open house celebrating the 110th anniversary of Oakview Grange from 1-4 p.m. Saturday. Light refreshments will be served.

The Grange is located at 2715 N. Pearl St., Centralia.

In April, Oakview members and non-members entered over 70 items in this year’s Lewis County Pomona contests. All contests are open to children age 5–13; youth 14-19 and adults 20 and older.

The family living contests included baking, candy making and food preservation as well as quilting, needlework and sewing. Lecturer contests were in arts and crafts ranging from knitting, fiber arts, painting, woodworking and photography as well as handmade cards, baskets and lapidary to name a few.

North Schroeder won best of class with his metal artwork. A large number of Oakview’s entries will be going on to Washington State Grange convention at the Okanogan Fairgrounds in Okanogan.

Faith Higenhofer offered a program outlining the upcoming 2020 U.S. Census that is offering jobs to everyone in helping take the 2020 census. Beginning wage starts at $14.50 an hour, with flexible hours, weekly pay and paid training.
