Oregonian To Drop Daily Newspaper Delivery

Posted

Oregon Public Broadcasting

The Oregonian is cutting its circulation to three days a week, according to statements on the newspaper's website.

The Oregonian will still publish a paper seven days a week. A paper will show up on subscriber's doorsteps on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The paper will still be available all seven days a week at stores and newsstands.

The changes are effective October 1.

In a statement

The paper's publisher, says "some employees will lose their jobs" -- though he doesn-t specify how many. Top executives are remaining, though some job titles are changing as they move into the new company structure.

The changes at The Oregonian are similar to steps taken at major newspapers in other cities -- like New Orleans and Cleveland.
