A new custom truck dealership opening in Chehalis signals the overall health of the automotive industry is improving and will boost the local economy, according to the business owner.
Heidi Pehl, who also owns I-5 Toyota and Ulhmann Ford and RV, is opening South Sound Trucks on March 1. The State Avenue dealership will specialize in customized trucks and sport utility vehicles, including accessories and lifts.
“We’ll be focusing on the demand for trucks that have been decked out,” Pehl said.
In addition to increasing Lewis County’s tax base, Pehl said, the new business has provided five new jobs.
“As it grows, we’ll add people,” she said. “So that’s good news.”
The new dealership is opening in the same space that housed Ulhmann Motors until 2008. Pehl and her crew are currently working on buying inventory for the opening and she expects to grow the number of vehicles on site over the next year.
The business will soon unveil a celebrity spokesperson but Pehl is keeping the details to herself for now.
“We have a really unique and fun celebrity,” she said. “And how this person became a celebrity fits in really well with our community.”
